Breakfast at the hotel went seemingly well until Henry decided to run full force at Teddy, knocking him and the cup of Froot-Loops he was holding onto the floor. Thankfully Teddy is tough and after a quick cry he was fine. This animal-like behavior should have been expected as we were leaving after breakfast to spend the day at the Bronx Zoo. As some of you know, our boys are HUGE animal fans. Between watching Wild Kratts on PBS, borrowing animal books from the library, and asking Alexa facts about random animals, there is a lot of animal knowledge being thrown around in our home at any given time. The boys were especially thrilled to see the komodo dragons, bald eagles, leopard, and gorillas. Any time I have seen gorillas at the zoo I feel as if I could stand and stare at them all day long. Today however was not one of those days. One gorilla, stood just on the opposite side of the glass wall and repeatedly vomited into her hand and ate the regurgitated green/yellow/brown food over and over and over and over again. The zoo staff member shrugged her shoulders and said "it's just a habit of theirs" at which point we quickly moved along fighting the urge to vomit (and not eat it).
The boys got some plastic animal figures to bring back (as if we don't already have a million of them) and we had a pretty low-key evening at the hotel consisting of baths, watching Frozen, uber-eating burritos, and Casey being asked repeatedly to "carry me upside down" by the boys. Today was exhausting, my feet are super sore from walking a ton of miles around the zoo, but my heart is full and that's the most important thing.
XO
