At first I felt guilty for falling asleep last night before I had time to write on here. I fell asleep while putting the boys to bed, but then I started thinking that falling asleep with my boys is one of the best parts of being a parent and that exhaustion means the day was full. With the intention of laying down with them only until they both dozed off, I woke up several hours later and had both boys snuggled up with me which quickly overshadowed my guilty feelings.
Yesterday (day 3) we left Brooklyn, NY after having a breakfast with some family friends. The drive from Brooklyn to Downingtown, Pennsylvania was pretty uneventful and took about 3 hours. Both boys slept most of the time, we stopped in New Jersey to get gas (which they don't allow you to pump yourself...so strange), and hit minimal traffic. We're spending 2 nights with Josh's aunt and uncle, Cynthia and David. They have 3 lovely young-adult daughters who came home for the weekend, and their playful Boston Terrier, Toby (when he's in trouble they call him Tobias which I love). Another aunt and uncle of Josh's came to visit for a BBQ, and we had a REALLY good time. The boys were shy when we first arrived but quickly opened up and before long were running laps around their home, shouting in the dog's face, and gobbling up snacks. Cynthia has been a pre-school teacher for a long time and between her and her daughters, the boys are in heaven with toys and attention and LOVING being here.
Other great things about staying with family: endless laughs, storytelling and spending time with wonderful family that we don't get to see as nearly as we like.
Oh! And access to a washer and dryer.
Stay tuned...
