One of the greatest parts of having children, that I never had considered before becoming a mom, is the joy in seeing how much your own friendships develop and change when your close friends fall in love with your children. Casey and I became friends when we were 15, in 10th grade art class, and have maintained a strong friendship for the past 17 years. 13 of these years Casey has lived in NYC. Watching Casey love our boys has been incredible, he is loving and fun all while still requiring them to use their manners (anyone with kids knows how great these type of people are in your life). We are staying two nights in a hotel near where Casey lives in Brooklyn. After some hotel hanging out, we took a subway a few stops and spent the afternoon and evening at Domino Park in Williamsburg. The park only opened last month, it was sparking clean and boys played in the splash pad and park, we ate tacos from Taco Cina, and boys had their first NYC cab ride back to the hotel. Putting the boys to bed took a total of 2 minutes because of their exhaustion. I'm 99% sure that I smell terrible, there are food crumbs all over the hotel room floor, and I should really be taking a shower but instead I will go to bed soon with dirty "I shouldn't have worn flip flops in NYC" feet and worry about my hygiene in the morning.

Day One
We made it to Brooklyn, NY! After saying our tearful goodbyes this morning to our parents, we hit the road running. We stopped at one of the staples of any NH to NY drive, Rein's Deli, and that was the only stop we made! Boys were relatively well behaved, Teddy slept twice for a total of only 20 minutes (he typically naps for 2-3 hours mid-day) and Henry stayed awake. Although he was exhausted, the non-stop "how much longer?", "how many more minutes?", "when are we going to be in New York?" was enough to keep him awake. Josh and I listened to various Spotify stations and mostly catered to the endless requests of the boys.
